About Us

St. John of God Community Services (SJOG CS) is one of Ireland’s leading providers of health and social care services, supporting children, young people and adults across a wide range of community settings. Rooted in the values and mission of the Saint John of God tradition, the organisation delivers person-centred supports that promote dignity, inclusion, independence and community participation.

Today, St. John of God Community Services comprises four Intellectual Disability Service regions, Kerry, Liffey, Dublin South East (DSE) and North East, together with specialist Mental Health Services including Lucena Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Cluain Mhuire Community Mental Health Services. Collectively, these services support thousands of individuals and families throughout Ireland.

Supporting People Across Ireland. The organisation’s Intellectual Disability Services provide a broad range of supports for children and adults, including residential care, respite services, day programmes, education, early intervention, training and employment supports.

Kerry Services operate throughout the county, with services located in Beaufort, Caherciveen, Castleisland, Dingle, Kenmare, Killarney, Killorglin, Listowel and Tralee. The region supports more than 300 children and adults with intellectual disabilities through residential, social, training and employment programmes.

Liffey Services, formed in 2014 through the amalgamation of the former Menni and Kildare Services, support over 850 children and adults. Services include residential and respite care, day programmes, early services and specialist educational supports. The region is also home to schools in Islandbridge and St. Raphael’s, Celbridge, serving children with intellectual disabilities.

Dublin South East (DSE) Services provide supports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities from birth through older age. The region delivers a wide range of services tailored to individual needs, enabling people to live full and meaningful lives within their local communities.

North East Services provide residential and day supports to approximately 400 adults across Counties Louth, Meath and Monaghan. In recent years, the region has led a significant programme of community inclusion, supporting individuals to transition from campus-based living to community homes in line with national disability policy and best practice.

Evolving Services, Strong Communities

Across all regions, St. John of God Community Services has embraced a model of support that places people at the centre of decision-making. The organisation continues to expand community-based opportunities, helping individuals to live, learn, work and participate fully in society. Alongside Intellectual Disability Services, SJOG CS delivers specialist Mental Health Services through Lucena Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, supporting young people and their families, and Cluain Mhuire Adult Mental Health Services, providing comprehensive mental health care and support for adults.

Continuing the Mission

From its origins in Stillorgan in the nineteenth century to a nationwide network of community-based supports today, St. John of God Community Services has continually evolved to meet changing societal needs. While services and locations have expanded, the organisation remains guided by the enduring values of Hospitality, Compassion, Respect, Justice and Excellence, supporting individuals and families to achieve the best possible quality of life and to participate as valued members of their communities. Through its dedicated staff, service users, families and wider communities, St. John of God Community Services continues to build on a proud legacy of care, inclusion and service that has spanned more than 140 years.
